We had already decided on Europe for the main part and U.S.A. on the way home would be best, round the world ticket is good value for this type of trip.
List of places and interests was compiled, bit scary when you start to write it all down, looks like we need 6 years not 6 months!
Must do list (much smaller) will be the starting point and we will add to it as we go. During all our other travels, mainly in Australia, we normally plan some things, lock in dates and fill in the gaps as the mood takes us, no reason this won’t work in Europe.
Itinerary would be Australia to London, tour U.K., Wales and Ireland ending up with family in Scotland for a couple of weeks before heading to Europe for a self drive tour then to U.S.A and back home. Great plan let’s book it! Hang on….. why not stop over in Egypt on the way to London, doesn’t cost any more for plane tickets and we both want to see the pyramids and explore ancient Egypt.
We decided a planned tour of Egypt would be best, couple of days in Cairo, with spare time, and a cruise down the Nile. Program offered by Trafalgar sounds just the thing.
Maggie has been reasearching and reviewing trip reports on the internet (how did we do this before computers??) to ensure we are comfortable with what we have chosen, looks good!!
